From AI-Driven Insights to Digital Trust, These Ventures Are Redefining Finance Across the Continent
The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST Africa), in partnership with Absa, has announced the top 10 finalists for the MEST Africa Challenge (MAC) 2025. These ventures, chosen from a highly competitive pool across eight African markets, represent the most promising innovations in FinTech and embedded FinTech across the continent.
The MAC 2025 specifically spotlights startups that are driving financial inclusion and digital transformation across Absa’s priority markets, including Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana.
As Ashwin Ravichandran, Portfolio Advisor and MAC Lead at MEST Africa, notes, the innovation is deeply intentional:
“We’re seeing founders build financial systems that are inclusive, intelligent, and unmistakably African. The Top 10 exemplify the kind of purposeful innovation driving Africa’s next wave of growth.”
The finalists demonstrate a mastery of local challenges, offering solutions that range from AI-driven logistics to seamless payments and farm investment platforms.
The top 10 finalists include: mystocks. Africa (Botswana), Credify Africa Inc (Uganda), Logistify AI (Kenya), Kutana Technologies Ltd (Ghana), Investa Farm (Kenya), Black Swan (Mauritius), Mighty Finance Solution Inc (Zambia), Devdraft AI (Zambia), Kanzu Finance Ltd (Uganda), and Farmsky (Kenya).
For Absa, the partnership is not just about investment; it’s about sourcing the technology that will power the future of their own operations.
Tamu Dutuma, Head of Strategy and Transformation for Technology at Absa Regional Operations (ARO), highlights this strategic imperative:
“Many of the solutions are directly relevant to our business, with the potential to enhance customer experience, drive efficiency, and accelerate transformation. We’re excited about the opportunity to turn some of these ideas into meaningful partnerships that deliver value at scale.”
These ten finalists will now advance to the Grand Finale in Cape Town on November 26, 2025. There, one winning startup will secure $50,000 in equity investment, gain access to MEST Africa’s powerful global network, and receive the crucial opportunity to collaborate directly with Absa.
The competition underscores a vital truth: digital solutions are no longer a luxury; they are an imperative for the financial sector and the continent’s digital economy.
