The new partnership brings EdgeNext’s global acceleration network to Lagos, promising lower-latency e-commerce, smoother video streaming, and enhanced cloud hosting for Nigeria’s 200 million users.
Rack Centre, West Africa’s leading Tier III carrier and cloud-neutral data centre, has announced a strategic partnership with EdgeNext to enhance digital experiences in Nigeria. This collaboration introduces EdgeNext’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) and comprehensive cloud hosting services to the country, all powered from Rack Centre’s advanced facility in Lagos.
Nigeria, with its rapidly growing, youth-centric population, is one of Africa’s most vibrant digital economies. The surging demand for online services, from mobile applications and e-commerce to social media and gaming, has created an urgent need for infrastructure that can keep pace.
EdgeNext’s expansion directly addresses this demand by improving content delivery efficiency and ensuring fast, stable application performance. By leveraging its global acceleration network, the CDN drastically reduces latency for Nigerian end-users accessing:
- Video streaming and social media platforms.
- E-commerce websites, enabling faster transactions.
- High-concurrency cloud and mobile gaming services.
EdgeNext’s flexible cloud hosting resources will empower the crucial small and medium-sized business sector and local developers, enabling them to deploy services quickly, manage IT costs effectively, and accelerate their digital transformation journeys.
Lars Johannisson, CEO of Rack Centre, highlighted the facility’s role: “EdgeNext’s arrival at Rack Centre demonstrates the strength of Nigeria’s digital infrastructure ecosystem, and our LGS2 facility provides the capacity, connectivity, and sustainability that international providers need to serve this market effectively.”
The collaboration reinforces Rack Centre’s position as the preferred gateway for global technology providers entering West Africa. The LGS2 facility in Lagos boasts significant capacity and features connectivity to over 73 carriers, ISPs, and network operators, providing direct access to every subsea cable landing on Africa’s Atlantic coast, including the Equiano and 2Africa cables.
This investment represents a commitment to the future of edge cloud computing in Nigeria, supporting applications critical to economic transformation, such as smart cities, digital education, and fintech innovation.
