With over 15 years of engineering leadership, Munasinghe is set to accelerate One Identity’s unified identity security platform and drive the shift toward enterprise-grade cloud delivery.
One Identity has announced the appointment of Gihan Munasinghe as Chief Technology Officer. Munasinghe, a seasoned engineering veteran with a track record of scaling massively distributed platforms, joins the company at a critical inflection point as enterprises move toward fully managed identity services.
In his new role, Munasinghe will oversee One Identity’s global engineering organization and define the long-term technology strategy. His mandate is clear: prioritize innovation while ensuring the reliability and scalability required for the modern identity security landscape.
Munasinghe joins One Identity from Smartsheet, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Engineering. During his eight-year tenure there, he played a pivotal role in scaling global teams and modernizing legacy infrastructures. His background is uniquely suited for One Identity’s current trajectory:
- Scale & Reliability: Expertise in delivering customer-centric software for massively distributed user bases.
- Platform Modernization: A history of transforming complex legacy systems into high-performance, innovative products.
- AI & Innovation: Previously the Co-founder and CTO of Converse.AI, Munasinghe brings deep experience in integrating emerging technologies, such as AI, into core business platforms.
One Identity has positioned its portfolio, spanning Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Access Management (AM), as a unified Identity Fabric. Munasinghe’s leadership is expected to tighten the integration of these traditionally siloed tools.
“Delighting customers starts with the products they rely on every day. Gihan brings the right combination of technical depth, operational discipline, and customer-first thinking to help us continue innovating and evolving our core platforms.” — Praerit Garg, CEO of One Identity.
The appointment signals a reinforced commitment to a SaaS-first delivery model. As organizations face relentless identity-driven threats, the demand for Identity as a Service (IDaaS) that is easy to consume yet secure enough for the enterprise has never been higher.
For enterprise buyers, a change at the CTO level often signals a shift in product roadmap emphasis. Munasinghe’s focus on innovation velocity and operational excellence suggests that One Identity users can expect:
- Faster Delivery Cycles: More frequent updates to the unified identity security platform.
- Robust SaaS Options: A more seamless transition for customers moving from on-premises to fully managed cloud environments.
- Modernized Experience: A push toward the browser-based and API-first architectures seen in recent versions of One Identity Manager.
