Following substantial investment from strategic partners, the Swiss-headquartered infrastructure firm scales its powered-site development platform to tackle the global shortage of grid-connected, permit-ready capacity for AI.
Swiss-headquartered AI data centre infrastructure company Storm Group has officially announced the appointment of Reza Nedjatian as Chief Executive Officer. The strategic leadership addition arrives on the heels of significant capital injection from strategic investors, designed to rapidly scale the company’s powered-site development platform across international jurisdictions.
Nedjatian brings more than 15 years of executive experience in developing and delivering large-scale power and digital infrastructure projects across North America and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
As artificial intelligence adoption surges, the primary barrier to industry growth has shifted from hardware availability to fundamental energy and real estate constraints. Storm specializes in identifying strategically positioned land, securing grid connections, and clearing planning approvals to deliver fully consented, energized sites ready for high-performance computing deployment.
The company currently manages an active development pipeline spanning Germany, Iceland, Spain, and the United States, with further evaluations underway across European and Central Asian markets.
“The demand for AI infrastructure is accelerating faster than the industry can build it,” noted Bijan Alizadeh, Founder and Chairman of Storm Group. “The binding constraint is not compute hardware – it is access to power and permitted sites. Reza’s appointment reflects the scale of the opportunity ahead of us and the confidence our investors have in our platform.”
Incoming CEO Reza Nedjatian emphasized the critical nature of Storm’s mission:
“The biggest constraint on AI infrastructure today is not chips; it is power and permitted land, and that is exactly where Storm is built to compete. I have spent my career energising large-scale power and digital infrastructure sites, and I know how hard consented, grid-connected capacity is to deliver at speed.”
The fresh capital will directly fund site acquisition pipelines, accelerate grid connection processes, and expand Storm’s specialized data centre deployment teams. Development of Storm’s financial products is managed in partnership with Cypher Capital, the group’s affiliated asset management division, which structures institutional access to high-demand AI infrastructure opportunities.
