Several agreements were signed, on Wednesday in Salé, during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the First National Conference on AI.
Initialled by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and several institutional and academic partners, national and foreign, the agreements aim to lay the foundations for an efficient and ethical AI strategy.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has thus been signed by the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada.
The partnership aims to integrate digital technologies in curricula, create appropriate digital educational content, develop the digital skills of educators and students, and promote innovation in schools and sports facilities.
Seghrouchni and Board Chairman of Crédit Agricole du Maroc Group, Mohamed Fikrat, also signed an agreement for a digital inclusion program which particularly aims to deploy digital and physical relays for access to e-services, digitize agricultural VSEs and support rural innovation.
On the employment and skills front, a MoU has been signed between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills.
Initialled by Seghrouchni and the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, the MoU aims to facilitate professional integration via AI solutions, set up job market analysis platforms and provide support for professional retraining and SMEs.
A MoU for the creation of an “Al Jazari Institute” Center of Excellence in the province of Nador was also signed between Seghrouchni and the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Azzedine El Midaoui, the Wali of the Oriental Region, Khatib El Hebil, the governor of the province of Nador, Jamal Chaarani and the President of the Regional Council, Mohamed Bouarourou.
The partnership mainly aims to create a center of excellence in AI and technological innovation, develop certification training and applied research, support startups, promote local skills and integrate AI into key sectors such as agriculture, tourism and energy.
In addition, a MoU marking the launch of a strategic partnership in the field of data centers was signed between Seghrouchni and the President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Hicham El Habti.
The agreement aims to promote structured collaboration around research, innovation, training, sustainability and digital sovereignty.
Through this agreement, the two institutions are committed to strengthening national capacities in sustainable and sovereign data management.
An agreement was also signed between the Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali.
This partnership aims to create synergies between national digital and energy transition strategies, in a context marked by climate urgency and the imperatives of technological sovereignty.
In particular, the agreement covers the planning, construction and operation of new-generation data centers, combining high energy efficiency, priority use of renewables and adoption of circular economy principles.
Through this initiative, the two departments are committed to promoting a responsible and resilient digital economy, at the service of sustainable development and a controlled digital transition.
At the signing ceremony, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a MoU to structure their cooperation under the Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) initiative.
The agreement aims to position Morocco as a regional leader in digital transformation, promoting inclusive digitalization for sustainable development in Arab and African countries.
Another agreement concerning cooperation in favor of human-centered digital, based on ethics, equity and empowerment, was initialled by Seghrouchni and the Founder and Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Deemah Al Yahya.
It aims to build capacity, stimulate innovation, and foster the cross-border exchange of knowledge to ensure that digital technologies, including AI, benefit society as a whole.
In this respect, the MoU provides for the implementation of several high-impact initiatives, including the national roll-out of the We-Elevate program, designed to support Moroccan SMEs in their access to global digital trade markets.
It also includes the Green Cloud Morocco initiative, which will position Morocco as a regional hub for sustainable digital infrastructures. This project includes the construction of three AI factories, including a green data center, enabling CO₂ emissions and energy costs to be reduced by up to 70%.
Through this alliance, Morocco stresses its ambition to become a benchmark actor within international digital ecosystems, combining technological innovation, economic inclusion and environmental responsibility.
A partnership between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the international “Current AI” initiative has been materialized through the signing of a declaration of intent. It aims to promote an ethical, secure and inclusive AI, support pilot projects in health, linguistic diversity and governance and actively participate in world AI governance.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the First National Conference on AI is organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform under the theme “An efficient and ethical AI strategy to serve our society.”
